Dr. Shelley Halligan brings a wealth of experience and a visionary spirit to Hygea Healthcare, where she is committed to fostering a culture of intrinsic motivation and excitement about the vital work of addiction recovery. With advanced degrees from Emory University (MSN) and Drexel University (DNP), Dr. Halligan is a Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC™) and holds certifications in Mental Health First Aid and Advanced Practice Addiction Nursing (CARN-AP).
Passionate about patient-centered care, Dr. Halligan finds her greatest joy in witnessing the profound transformations that addiction medicine makes possible—helping individuals reclaim their lives, rebuild relationships, and rediscover hope. She is actively involved in professional organizations such as the American Medical Association (AMA), the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM), and the American Nurses Association (ANA).
Outside of work, Dr. Halligan cherishes her family, including her daughter Zoe and her one-month-old grandson, who bring immense joy to her life. She enjoys cooking, dancing, traveling with her husband Salvatore, and hosting lively gatherings. Whether she’s at the beach, watching football, or embracing the outdoors, Dr. Halligan lives her life with gratitude and recovery at its core.
